It Is A Shame
A hiker in California fell to her death.

(04-15) 14:13 PDT MARIN HEADLANDS -- The hiker who died Monday after falling over a cliff above Rodeo Beach in the Marin Headlands was identified today as 20-year-old Phoebe Washer, an aspiring artist who grew up in Petaluma.

Washer, who lived most recently in San Francisco with several friends, was hiking with a 22-year-old man along a coastal trail Monday afternoon when he heard her scream and saw rocks falling, authorities said.

Washer plunged down at least a portion of a cliff that was 150 to 200 feet high, said Ozola Cody, a spokeswoman for the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Her companion, whose name was not released, went down the steep hillside to help Washer, suffering minor injuries in the process.

My condolences to her friends and family.
